PROOF OF LIFE

I realized that this title has two meanings - first, yes, Ty & I are alive and well! I was barely even on the blogging "band wagon" and didn't mean to fall off of it already, but it has definitely been too long since my last post. As excited as I am about our baby, I'm even sick of reading that last post!!!

The real reason for the title of this post is for the baby update - we've now been in for a couple of ultrasounds, and I heard the heartbeat again last week. It's FAST - about 160 beats per minute every time. We've got a hyper one on our hands! (that's not really a surprise, if you know either of us and especially my husband very well). I know that a fast heartbeat means a girl, but the fact that I haven't been sick would indicate a boy...so we're still guessing as to what our little one is. Hence, the poll...PLEASE VOTE!! We find out the final verdict two weeks from Monday, so you can at least count on another post in a couple of weeks!

I figured since I'm almost 17 weeks along, it was time to post my 14 week baby bump. I know it doesn't look like much of a "bump", but for those of you that are more honest than you are nice, you have to admit that I'm definitely getting "thicker" through the mid-section. I didn't think I'd be one to struggle with my weight gain during pregnancy, but not having been sick, the weight has had NO PROBLEM finding its way to me. At my doctor appointment, she said my weight gain looked "beautiful"...I'm sure glad someone thinks that!!! She's a good one to hear those words from though, let's be honest.

Speaking of doctors appointments...when are OBs going to learn how to speak normal human being english? I sat there and listened to her talk about all of these things they've tested on me...I have no idea when or how they tested these things, or what these "things" mean, but she kept saying "that looks good", or "that's great" or "very good", so until she came up with a "I'm concerned about..." I didn't pay too much attention. Luckily I never heard those words. HOORAY!!! So anyway, enough about that. Here's the picture. I'll scan in one of our alien/baby photos and post that soon too. But for now - my 14 week photo...

Oh - one last story. At our ultrasound, not only did we get the "proof of life" we were hoping for, (we thought I'd miscarried, but that's another story...) but Ty was reassured (as if he needed it) that this baby is in fact his. He saw the baby's first resemblance to himself - its "chicken legs". For those of you that don't know, if Ty could change one thing about himself, it's his "chicken legs". He thinks they're too skinny. Don't get me wrong, they're not large by any means, but his hatred for them went so far that the only time he would wear shorts was when he went swimming. We hit a major milestone last summer when he came home with a pair of shorts he had bought for himself. He then inherited another pair, so he has become a shorts wearer! This is a big deal to us both, so please for the love, refrain from EVER teasing him about his skinny legs.

Hi Elise! I've had a chance to congratulate Ty, but not you! Congratulations! We here in the Larson household are so excited for you! Ty is so excited...he was so cute when he was telling me about this little baby! He also told me how excited he is to see you become and mother and what a GREAT mother you will be! (And you will!) It was very cool! I'm glad your pregnancy is going well! We can't wait to hear! My vote...a boy! (Naturally, what else could I say?)

You are looking fabulous! I'm glad that everything is OK and that your "thick" (If that's thick, I'm screwed....) midsection is "beautiful". What comforting words!

I voted for a girl!! :) I'm really excited for you guys, I think it's so exciting!! I'm still confused about the "hyper" baby though, that doesn't seem to make any sense at all... ;)

You really do look great! But we're always harder on ourselves. I can't wait to hear what you're having. I guessed a girl, but I'm hoping for a boy...so Ben will have a buddy. :)

We voted Girl :) By the way, you don't even have a bump. People thought I was due before I even knew the gender of our baby!

Hi Elise! Pregnancy looks soooo good on you! A bazillion CONGRATS to you and Ty! Pregnancy is so awesome! There is ALWAYS something to look forward too!

I voted Boy!!!
And I agree with your OB, even if it was about your weight, you do look beautiful.
For me the "glow" of pregnancy meant oily skin and a puffy red acne-prone face, for you it really means radiant.

I'm so glad you and the baby are doing well, oh and Ty too. :)

Its a boy... You know how good my baby sense is. It's a boy! (I think) And yes you do have a beautiful little microscopic, wouldnt quite call it a bump but perhaps a little more fullness, belly. Love it :)

I voted for a girl! For the love of Pete, SOMEONE needs to have a girl in this family!!! We haven't had one for 5+ years!!!

That so-called "bump" you have is a boy. I just know it. I've cast my vote, now let it be so. You are looking radiant, even though you are NOT looking pregnant. You will though, and I can't wait!

Well, I don't see a baby bump, but the pregnancy looks good in your other bumpy areas. :) Lookin' hot as always. When you see me, you'll think bump, or maybe basketball, or watermelon. But I remember being there...thinking I had a bump that no one else could see. Enjoy your little bump while it lasts. I'm so glad the baby is doing well. My vote is a boy. Can't wait to hear!

I love your bump made by little chicken legs. (Please note: I was making fun of Baby's legs, not Ty's. That might not make it any better though... Ü)
